Block Island Airport is located on Block Island approximately 10 miles off the coast. It is approximately 55 air miles from 1B9. Block Island is a great destination for the day or the weekend. The airport has one hard surface 2500 ft strip. Once there you can rent a moped and tour the entire island in a day. If you plan to spend the night call ahead and stay at one of the many bed and breakfast facilities. NOTE: This is an uncontrolled field and during the summer months can be extremely busy so be especially vigilant.

Katama Air park is located on the southern corner of Martha's Vineyard, approximately 50 air miles from 1B9. This is a great field to visit for a meal, go to the beach, or spend the day in Edgartown (5 minute cab). And it counts as cross country time. The airport has three intersecting grass runways and is unlighted. On the field is a great diner open for breakfast and lunch (seasonal). There are two parking areas and they are very far apart. If you want to visit the diner or go into town park by the FBO, hanger, restaurant. If you want to go to the beach be sure to park by the beach in the designated area, located 50 feet from the waterfront.
NOTE: You can not depart the airport after dark so plan according. Also this airport can be very busy during summer weekends and holidays.
